The EV Charging Bonus is now set to launch, offering incentives to consumers who wish to install private electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Applications will open at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, via the online platform operated by Invitalia, which is managing the scheme on behalf of Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT).

The opening of the application window follows the publication of a ministerial decree setting out the procedures and rules governing access to the incentive. The decree was signed at the direction of Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, as part of the multi-year programme for Italy’s automotive sector approved by a government decree last June.

The scheme has a total budget of €68 million through 2030 and is designed to support the rollout of private charging infrastructure while contributing to the automotive sector’s broader industrial and environmental transition.

How the incentive works

The bonus covers 80% of eligible costs for the purchase and installation of charging infrastructure. For individuals, the contribution is capped at €1,500 per applicant.

A higher ceiling applies to condominiums. For installations carried out in the common areas of residential buildings, the maximum contribution rises to €8,000.

Urso: “We are supporting consumers and the Italian supply chain”

Announcing the launch of the scheme, Minister Adolfo Urso highlighted its dual objective of supporting the sector’s transition while strengthening domestic manufacturing.

“Today we are taking another step forward in implementing the programme we are developing to support the industrial and environmental transition of the sector,” Urso said.

The minister also pointed to the potential impact of the measure on Italy’s industrial supply chain. According to Urso, 54% of newly installed next-generation charging infrastructure in Italy is manufactured domestically. Investments in the charging network, he argued, can therefore also support “Italian manufacturing, employment and our technology supply chains.”

Applications can be submitted online through Invitalia’s dedicated EV Charging Bonus platform.

The appointment for industry operators is at E-Charge 2026, the trade fair dedicated to the EV charging industry and market, charging stations, technologies, infrastructure, and services, scheduled from 7 to 9 October 2026 at Bologna Exhibition Center.
