Rome: drivers will indicate where to install new charging stations
July 29, 2026
France: 30,000 HPC charging stations on major routes by 2035
July 29, 2026Integrating electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure into hospitality facilities is a strategic decision that can generate tangible value. According to an analysis by Powy, an efficient and well-managed charging service can increase a hotel’s revenue by up to 10%. Yet, in Italy, this opportunity remains largely untapped.
The growing adoption of electric vehicles, particularly among international tourists, is reshaping travelers’ expectations. The ability to recharge an EV during a hotel stay has become a key factor when choosing accommodation.
Today, only around 15% of Italian hospitality establishments offer EV charging points. Northern Italy is leading this transition, with Trentino-Alto Adige ranking first for the availability of charging services, followed by regions such as Tuscany, Veneto, and Lombardy. Central and Southern Italy, by contrast, are still lagging behind.
This regional gap is also influenced by the origin of tourist flows: destinations that welcome a higher number of visitors from countries where electric mobility is more advanced tend to show greater adoption of charging infrastructure.
For hotels, installing charging stations is not simply about expanding their range of service, it is a way to strengthen their market positioning. The availability of EV charging can directly influence both the choice of accommodation and guest loyalty.
Travelers driving electric vehicles pay close attention to charging availability: the vast majority check whether a property offers charging facilities before making a reservation. At the same time, interest in more sustainable forms of tourism continues to grow.
Hotel chargin, especially overnight chargin, offers significant added value. It makes travel more convenient, eliminates concerns about driving range, and enhances the overall guest experience. Moreover, EV drivers often represent a customer segment with higher spending power and a strong appreciation for premium services.
EV Charging as a Strategic Investment
In this context, providing reliable, user-friendly, and continuously updated charging solutions is no longer an optional extra—it is a competitive advantage. Hotels that invest in EV charging infrastructure can capture rapidly growing demand, attract international guests, and improve their reputation, occupancy rates, and profitability.
Electric mobility is reshaping the hospitality industry as well. Hotels that adapt early will gain a significant competitive edge in tomorrow’s market.
Industry professionals are invited to attend E-Charge 2026, the trade fair dedicated to the EV charging industry and market, including charging stations, technologies, infrastructure, and services, taking place from 7 to 9 October 2026 at Bologna Exhibition Center.
The event will be held as part of Urban Tech – The Urban Technology Show, the new exhibition focused on e-mobility, traffic, commuting, security, telecommunications & data, and environmental technologies.
